Clovyr, a privacy-focused platform, is redefining how individuals and developers engage with open-source applications by eliminating barriers to access and adoption. With a commitment to distributed systems, privacy, and open-source principles, Clovyr offers a user-friendly app for individuals and collaborates with developers to provide robust infrastructure that supports growth.
Type/Code partnered with Clovyr for a ground-up brand overhaul, including refining their logo, expanding their color palette, and creating a cohesive asset library. We collaborated on illustrations, establishing a vibrant visual language that communicates Clovyr’s mission while appealing to privacy-conscious users. Our work also included designing and building a fully responsive marketing site and core application, optimized for desktop based on user research.
A key challenge was designing Clovyr’s app marketplace—an “app store” that rejects the walled garden ethos. This meant creating a UI that balanced accessibility with deeper control through progressive disclosure, empowering users without overwhelming them. The platform’s UI also supports white-labeling, allowing Clovyr to operate as a visible brand or seamlessly integrate into other ecosystems.
To support Clovyr’s developer community, we integrated SaaS comparison tools and scalable design elements to communicate the platform’s value proposition. Throughout the project, Type/Code provided product management and frontend development using the Vue.js framework, ensuring smooth feature launches and a scaling type system.
By delivering a polished brand, marketing site, and suite of digital products, we helped Clovyr simplify access to open-source apps and strengthen its position as a leader in privacy-focused technology.
